We use bromide and our tub is 480 gallons. Our water has turned green after about a week.

Do you have a water test kit? You should test your water daily. Test for clorine and keep the levels up. Green water is a sure sign that your bromine/clorine level is too low. Also check your PH. If the PH level is too high, clorine/bromine can’t do their job. Get a good test kit, that you can also check hardness of the water. My spa is about 500 gallons, and it only take a few ounces of dry bromine to treat the water. I have very hard water, so my PH is above 8.0 out of the tap, so I have to add about an ounce of acid to bring it down. read the directions on the test kit and follow them.
